“Debating AI - Discussing Society” is an interactive art project that addresses the social impact of artificial intelligence as a cultural and social challenge in a global dialog between societies. At the center is a walk-in, AI-supported sculpture that serves as a platform to make the presence of artificial intelligence visible and physically tangible. The AI reacts to conversations and movements in the exhibition space by offering a conver- sation in real time and changing the sculpture through the physical dynamics of those present in the space. The sculpture defines itself as a “social sculpture”: it makes society tangible as a shapeable space and invites people to actively help shape it, through contributing their voices, thoughts and questions about AI inside the sculpture, but also in discussions panels.. Against the backdrop of a multipolar world order, the project understands the integration of the three relevant cultural areas - China, the USA and Europe - as a deliberate choice. Accompanying discussion formats and workshops deepen the intercultural exchange and make the sculpture a starting point and a platform for an open, collective discourse on how to deal with AI and its social and cultural impact on society.
